The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, it’s the oddest cannon Zelda game out there for sure. The game is chock full of all kinds of mystery; like the fierce deity mask, the moon children and Majora itself. In this article I’ll share my analysis of the game from the point where the moon is stopped by the giants, to the fatal blow dealt to Majora’s Wrath. My argument is that the ‘inside the moon’ and the final fight with Majora, is taking place inside the subconscious mind of the skull kid. OBJECTION yells Edgeworth at the top of his lungs spitting the cereal he was eating into my face. Where is my evidence he asks? Well my readers, here it is for your enjoyment. I’m going to include videos of the “inside the moon”, and the final fight will Majora so you can better see where I’m coming from, and to give you a quick way to provide evidence for your own counter claims.
Let’s take a look at it from the start of the scene to the end shall we? The giants stop the moon from falling, and Majora tosses the skull kid away and flies into the moon’s mouth. After you follow it you enter a small meadow with five kids playing around a tree. The kids are wearing the masks of each of the bosses in the game with the Majora kid sitting alone. The kids represent a lot of things based on what they are doing and what they are saying. The kids wear the masks of the bosses which as we are told in the game, traps the spirits of the giants. Each kid represents one of the giants whom are the friends of the skull kid. The questions they ask tell a great deal more over what they are. Let’s take a look at what they say:
“Your friends… What kind of…people are they?, I wonder…
Do those people…think of you…as a friend?, I wonder…What makes you happy…
Does it make…others happy, too? I wonder…If you do the right thing…Does it really
make…everybody…happy?, I wonder…The face under the mask… Is that…your true
face?”
