In a recent Nico Nico Live earlier this week, fans were given a chance witness even more of Drakengard 3‘s gameplay. First, we were shown the improved mounted dragon/aerial combat mechanics with Zero’s partner Mikhail. When the game was announced earlier this year, they showed what seemed to be an earlier build of the dragon combat. To many it seemed very poor, at least in a visual stand point. Flash forward to the present and it looks to be that those delays weren’t for nothing. Compared to the original footage and even the original Drakengard‘s dragon combat, it’s looking a lot better all around.
The second footage features largely the same gameplay footage of the previous Nico Nico Live back at this year’s TGS. But this time, Zero dons another outfit; this one comes from Caim, the main protagonist of Drakengard. Besides seeing a more feminine version of the outfit, Caim’s sword is also included–which is quite powerful to say the least. We also get to see a little more of the weapon switching system, chaining attacks with the different weapons, and doing combos. The game’s strategy guide that will be sold along with the game will have the code for Caim’s costume DLC for Zero. You can watch both previews, or even the entire Nico Nico Live broadcast, below.
Drakengard 3 is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and is slated for release in Japan on December 19th of this year, with the Western release being next year with no concrete date at this time. North Americans can purchase the game through Square Enix’s online store — however, word of warning, the website uses Digital River for their shipping services.
