Valhalla Knights 3
It’s round three for Marvelous AQL’s Valhalla Knights series, and it looks like Valhalla Knights 3 might be what this action RPG series has been needing to separate it from the rest of the competition. This time around, the developers are are adding a “dark” premise and choices that can at times go from “dastardly” to a more mellow “bad”. Now, Valhalla Knights 3 isn’t solely based on being the most hellacious villain-knight out there; evil is plaguing the lands, and sometimes, even the holiest of knights are forced to take unforgivable actions.

In a Japanese video released today, Valhalla Knights 3’s producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto and writer Harutoshi Fukui heavily discussed the darker story, and the effects it would have on the player’s morale. One of the initial questions asked around the beginning of the video by Hashimoto to Fukui was, “what makes a story?”. Fukui firmly believes that it isn’t the “theme” or “view of the world” that consumes the player, but the mystery behind who will be doing what within said game world.

“Taking the first step in the story is easy, but there will also be steps that will put you in such conflicts, where I believe some people will even create multiple save datas depending on what kind of choices they’d like to make.”

Hashimoto is also confident that players who go in with a strictly “paragon” state of mind may come out with quite the contrary,

“There might be occasions where the player is thrown in a situation where they only have bad choices to pick from. It will be up to the players to either give into the darkness or avoid what seems to be the worst choice, as they advance through the game.”

For your viewing pleasure, the original video can be found below, but like stated earlier, it’s very Japanese. Also, if nothing else,  skip to around 9:33 of the video for a new trailer for Valhalla Knights 3.

Will any of you out there be picking up Valhalla Knights 3 for the PlayStation Vita when it releases this fall in America?
