Terraria

Terraria

The PlayStation Vita is shaping up to have a stellar summer line-up of indie hits. For instance, Limbo was recently added to the ever-growing roster. Yesterday, PSNStores revealed via Twitter that the successful indie title Terraria will be available on PlayStation Vita this summer.

As of January this year, Terraria has sold about 2,000,000 copies on Steam, so it was only logical to bring it to the Sony handheld. It will also be released for the PlayStation 3 (North America only) and for the Xbox 360. These will be available in the dying days of March.

Terraria, for those who are not already consumed by the game, is a 2D action-adventure RPG developed by Re-Logic. It takes elements from Castlevania‘s combat and Minecraft‘s building structure before throwing in randomly generated worlds littered with unique monsters. The twist is the emphasis on unlocking NPCs by untying them, or decimating bosses with crafted weapons.

Along with Limbo, Terraria is another title that took me by storm. Just its being available on a handheld warrants a Vita purchase for me. Maybe this indie push by Sony will directly affect the sales of the PlayStation Vita. Just maybe.
