Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon may have a multiplayer component. Digital Trends is reporting that, earlier today, Nintendo’s website for the title read: “With so many new places to explore, all new ways to capture ghosts, and a brand new local multiplayer mode, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon is another star turn for Mario’s heroic brother.”
As of this writing, the reference to a multiplayer mode has been removed. However, the box art includes both the Nintendo Network logo, and a rating notice stating “Online Interactions Not Rated by the ESRB.”
Some form of connectivity may indeed be coming, but until Nintendo makes an official announcement we will won’t know for sure what that connectivity entails.
The game will see Luigi exploring several different haunted mansions to rid them of the ghosts that are plaguing them. He must use his trusty Poltergust 5,000, a vacuum cleaner with ghost-sucking capabilities, to complete his task.
Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon will be released on the 24th of March for 3DS owners in America. A specific release date for Europe and the rest of the PAL region has not yet been announced, though it will be released there in March.
