This week in Animal Crossing: New Horizons really fluctuated between heavy, in-depth playing and more fun, silly playing. I was also quite surprised at how much music by K.K. Slider I have amassed mostly over this year.
Looking at all I’ve accomplished this week – a birthday party, paying off a loan, selecting new music, setting up my outdoor gym some more, and other things – it still really surprises me with just how much there is to do and explore day by day in this game.
In next week’s column, we are going to be crossing into the last 100 days of this year…and presumably, this column. It feels really bittersweet, and I don’t know if I am going to have everything that I’ve dreamed of doing – or decided I wanted to do as I happen upon it – done by the time January 1, 2026, rolls around.
But I can’t worry too much about that now, since there is truly so much time left and I need to focus on the here and now.
If you missed last week’s Tom Nook’s Snapshots, then you can read it here.

Aside from chopping down a money tree, I found myself wandering over to Redd’s ship to look at the latest art. I ended up buying the graceful painting he had for sale, but I don’t know if it is real or not. I also bought a touchscreen cash register I am going to try to use in my outdoor gym somewhere, which is pretty awesome.
Finally, I headed over to the museum and I got some fossils identified! Surprisingly, there was one the museum didn’t have already: the trilobites fossil. Of course, I donated it and Blathers explained to me that trilobites are even older than the dinosaurs are, there are 50,000 species of them, and they existed for 300,000,000 years. That’s actually really cool, and it makes me want to go check it out in my museum!

Today, I donated the worthy painting to the Renassia museum, and it turned out to be real! To be honest, though, I had a hunch it was. It’s Liberty Leading the People, and it is on display in the Louvre. It is a seriously gorgeous painting, and well worth checking out.
Unfortunately, the painting I picked up from Redd’s yesterday in Animal Crossing: New Horizons…turned out to be a fake. This is the second fake piece of art I’ve gotten this year, but it is the first one I purchased myself. I ended up throwing it away into a trash can so I wouldn’t have to see it again.
Otherwise, I picked crops and sold them all off to Timmy and Tommy at Nook’s Cranny, and I pocketed a decent amount of money from it. I need to harvest my crops more often. It is very easy money that I am just literally leaving on the ground sometimes!

Today, it absolutely poured in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Somehow, the rain drops feel heavier and fatter than they did earlier in the year. I ran into Cephalobot, who looked absolutely dashing in his suit, while I was wielding my gelato umbrella. He complemented me on my gold-print tee, and it felt a little surreal to be talking fashion in a downpour.
I ended up going into the Town Hall to dry off, and I discovered I had enough money to pay off another home loan! I plopped down that 668,000 Bells, and I enjoyed the feeling of being debt free once more!

Another Saturday means another song by K.K. Slider! This week, he played K.K. Reggae for me and Tybalt. It was surprisingly enjoyable, as most songs by K.K. Slider are in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
I also stopped into the Town Hall afterwards, and Tom Nook thanked me joyfully in paying off my debt to him…and he tempted me with opening up a new home expansion, if I was interested in doing so. I demurred on that, as I am not quite sure what I want with my life in Renassia.
September 14

I’ll be honest: I just played around with my record player in my home and listened to a bunch of K.K. Slider’s songs to pick whichever one I wanted to go in my home. I kept flipping between Surfin’ K.K. and Two Days Ago before finally settling on Two Days Ago!
I rarely mess around with the in-home music, but I wanted to pick something enjoyable and really help set the mood for my place on the beach in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
September 15

Today is Tutu’s birthday! I had to stop in her home and see her and Gayle throw Tutu her party. I cheered them both on, and I ended up giving Tutu a copy of My Place by K.K. Slider for her home. I don’t think friends gift each other music quite enough in life, and I wanted to start that up in here.
Gayle said something interesting to me, though. She said the party was going great, Tutu is happy, and that I am the reason why. Most surprisingly, Gayle said it was because “[e]veryone around here loves you!” I know it’s all a game, and I know that Animal Crossing: New Horizons isn’t real, but it made me happy to still hear that.

The past few days in Animal Crossing: New Horizons had been pretty light. I made it up today by finally putting in all the groundwork to finish off my outdoor gym. I dug up all the excessive flowers south of the boxing ring, and I laid down a bunch of connected pathways to help shape the walkway.
I intend to install more gym equipment around the gym, and I want to definitely figure out a way to properly incorporate the remaining purple roses into the marquee design for the gym. I like the small pops of nature with the purple roses and the pine trees that are everywhere. I potentially could have to dig them up and make a small pine forest elsewhere on the island, but I haven’t quite reached a decision on that yet.
It took a lot longer than I expected to reshape that elevated section of my island, but I think it will be totally worth it once I am done!
