We here at oprainfall don’t just love video games: we’re big fans of anime, too. So in celebration of the medium, we’re here to give you our thoughts on what we’ve been watching each week as we watch it. Old, new – anything goes.

The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting
Following last week’s cliffhanger, we get to see Sakuragi knock some sense into Kirishima before he does something brash, but it only marks the beginning of Kirishima’s struggle. Having disobeyed a direct order in going after the punks who hurt Yaeka, Kirishima is no longer sure about what he’s doing or where he belongs. After putting on a fireworks party at home with Yaeka and friends, Kirishima quietly slips out in the night, and the episode focuses mostly on his inner turmoil and how his disappearance affects everyone else in the Sakuragi Family. Mashiro also rears his head again, explaining his reasons for wanting Kirishima to return to his Demon self. While I was expected a more bombastic episode based on the cliffhanger, I can’t say I’m disappointed in what we got. This show isn’t exactly an action one, and having the resolution of the yakuza kidnapping plot be some introspection feels more in line with the general vibe of the show. Plus seeing Sugihara and Yaeka take matters into their own hands to find Kirishima was cute. Next week should be the last for this season and I’m honestly excited to see how they wrap up the plot threads being laid down. – Leah

Lycoris Recoil
This week’s episode sees the continuation of the fight between Majima and the duo of Chisato and Takina. Chisato and Takina take Majima down within the first minute of the episode, which surprised me. After this, a lot of things happened. Yoshimatsu continues to try and get Chisato to kill someone. He tries to get Chisato to kill him so she can retrieve the updated artificial heart. He also sends his assistant to attack Takina, so Chisato will have to kill her to protect Takina. Yoshimatsu is way too obsessed with this, and it shows. Luckily, Chisato is able to get through the situation without killing anyone, and lets Yoshimatsu go, much to the dismay of Takina, as her attempt at giving Chisato more time to live has failed. After this, Chisato and Takina receive a request to save the Lycoris stationed at Enkuboku. That’s right, Cafe LycoReco is back in business. The higher ups of DA send LilyBell, a male version of Lycoris, to wipe out the Enkuboku Lycoris. Chisato and Takina team up with Fuki and her crew to take back the Enkuboku Control Room. After taking back the room, Kurumi is able to take back Radiata and cover up the events that occurred at Enkuboku and send the police to Robota’s location. With Robota down and the events getting covered up, there is no longer a need to wipe out Lycoris, so LilyBell is withdrawn. Another successful mission by Cafe LycoReco. This episode gave me everything I’ve come to expect from this great series. It had the perfect combination of drama, action, and comedic moments to lighten the mood. I’m surprised Majima got taken out so quickly this episode, but the ending made up for it. I’m glad Chisato stayed true to herself and didn’t kill anyone. However, I did wish Takina messed up Yoshimatsu a bit for all the things he put Chisato through. Chisato is too nice sometimes. Seeing Fuki take command and not follow her orders to the letter was great to see. Because of her decisions, she was able to save her fellow Lycoris’ lives. Chisato, Takina, and Fuki really stepped up this episode, and it was great to see. It looks like the final showdown between Chisato and Majima will take place next episode, and I can’t wait to see it. – Patrick

Dropkick on My Devil!!! X
The episode starts off with a focus on Lierre as she wants to go to a special event for one of her favorite shows. She ends up having to get her friend, Persephone, to act as her mother. Something she, somewhat, regrets due to teasing from her. My favorite part of this event was how far some of the reoccurring side characters are willing to go to get a free figure, and how in depth they are in playing a role. The next big focus of the episode was Jashin-chan, for some reason, thinking about doing a good deed, and she goes on to donate at a blood bank. There, she meets a young vampire vampire named Ecute, who then attacks her as she doesn’t want demon blood. She’s from a high class family, unfortunately for her, that means nothing to Jashin-chan. Even worse for her is the fact she is actually weaker than Jashin-chan too. We also meet Atre who mentors, and also punishes, Ecute. From there, it’s mentioned that they are actually looking for Yurine. Jashin-chan assumes the worst kinds of things could follow and, once again falls, to the siren call of pachinko and gambling. It was nice to finally see the new characters, and I’d like to see how they are introduced to Yurine. – Walter

Overlord
We start off seeing how the kingdom is falling apart with the King preparing for it. Ainz changes their invasion’s focus and heads into battle with Albedo, anticipating a meeting. Albedo faces the red armored adventurer and splits off from Ainz. Once this happens, a new character emerges in armor to face Ainz. Once again, we see how overly strong the members of Nazarick are. While the initial appearance of Albedo’s foe is seemingly strong, he’s deceptively weak, something she even mentions. As for Ainz’s challenger, who is stronger, he still can’t match our protagonist. The fight between the two was interesting, as unlike most battles, Ainz doesn’t instantly kill him. We see in the battle there are some oddities with Ainz’s behavior, with a somewhat humorous mention of you shouldn’t attack to someone talking. There are a few twists such as the identity of the Ainz’s challenger, and an always welcomed appearance of Pandora’s Actor. Since I’m behind in the novels, I’m excited to see how they end this arc. – Walter

Uncle from Another World
I caught up with what I was able to at the moment with the series. I continue to really enjoy the series and am a fan of Takafumi’s Uncle. There are quite a few subversions of things like tropes and things don’t go quite as you would normally expect. This, of course, extends to Takafumi and Fujimiya. The interactions outside of the recollections of the other world are just as good, in my opinion. Of course, I still like all of the SEGA references, among the few others, they throw in. Some my favorite moments are the ones that include the Elf and Mabel. The fact that the Elf’s tsundere act fails so badly due to the Uncle’s denseness is both funny, but, also sad due to how he doesn’t seem to understand her feelings, at all. I’m also a big fan of Mabel and her anti-work attitude. It was announced that a number of episodes are going to be delayed until later this fall, so I’m going to have to catch up with the manga in the mean time. It’s a series that I do recommend. – Walter
