Well guys and gals, this is a good week for the Nintendo Download. Partly due to the usual fare, but also because a particularly great indie finally is out this week. Besides that, there’s also a special event for Mario Tennis Aces and more to enjoy. So let’s get started with a cubical hero that’s finally making his debut on Nintendo Switch.
I was amazed how fun the original BOXBOY game was, and though I haven’t beaten all of the sequels, I have enjoyed them all. So I’m definitely excited that BOXBOY! + BOXGIRL! hits the Switch starting tomorrow! You’ll play as Qbby and Qucy solo, or you can team up with a friend in two player mode. This game also features more than 250 stages to enjoy, so you’ll definitely get your money’s worth. Though if you prefer more standard RPG fare, you might enjoy Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age, which releases later this month. And last but certainly not least, if you want another fantastic entry in the SteamWorld series, you owe it to yourself to try out SteamWorld Quest. I rather enjoyed it in my review, and think you’ll have fun with it as well. Next, let’s check out an activity this week.
Mario Tennis Aces: Special Online Demo – Get ready to swing into action with the Mario Tennis Aces: Special Online Demo. Hop online* and fight your way to the top of the in-game bracket before the event is over. Test your skills in frenetic singles tournament matches, and gain points based on your victories. Players who participate can unlock Mario’s classic overalls outfit and use it in the full version of the game (sold separately). This demo event is active only from noon PT on April 26 to 9 p.m. PT on April 28.

And lastly, a game I thought was going to come out almost a month ago is coming out later this month, called Darkest Hunter. The rest are all out this week.
Buckle up, boys and girls, there’s a lot of digital games out this week. For the retro inclined, there’s a couple options – ACA NEOGEO Samurai Showdown V Special and Arcade Classics Anniversary Collection. If you love games of art, there’s a trio courtesy of ARTE – Homo Machina, Type:Rider and Vandals. For your platforming needs, there’s Aggelos and Dig Dog. For different RPG experiences, try Shalnor Legends: Sacred Lands and Lost King’s Lullaby. For an arcade rush, try Ding Dong XL. Or for a more strategic affair, try Death Coming.
