Aniplex USA recently announced on their official Facebook page that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba would be receiving a TV anime adaptation. The manga is written by Koyoharu Gotōge and published by Shueisha in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Viz Media has licensed the manga for release in North America.
Viz Media describes the series as follows:
In Taisho-era Japan, Tanjiro Kamado is a kindhearted boy who makes a living selling charcoal. But his peaceful life is shattered when a demon slaughters his entire family. His little sister Nezuko is the only survivor, but she has been transformed into a demon herself! Tanjiro sets out on a dangerous journey to find a way to return his sister to normal and destroy the demon who ruined his life.
The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime will be produced by Ufotable. Ufotable is known for adapting many Type-Moon works into anime such as The Garden of Sinners, Fate/Zero, Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, and Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel I. presage flower.
