Gobble gobble, boys and girls! It might be Thanksgiving, but that doesn’t mean there’s no Nintendo Download. Thanks to the wonders of the internet, I’m here writing my weekly ritual from the comfort of a warm home full of food. Since there are still a few hours before eating everything in sight, I thought I’d share some scrumptious Nintendo games with fellow fans. There’s some interesting stuff today, as well as the standard fare. So enough chatting, let’s see what’s worth playing!
Though I may not be a fan, I know many are wildly excited by the Animal Crossing series, and that goes double for their newly launched mobile adventure, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. This bite sized adventure went live officially yesterday, and I’ve already seen it consume the lives of many of my Twitter friends. So if you’re a fan, you should jump on Animal Crossing Pocket Camp today! If you’re feeling the urge to play something a bit more strange, might I suggest the latest iteration of Mario + Rabbids? Yes, there is now Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Gold Edition, and it features not only the base game but also the season pass, chock full of DLC. This adds a new world, new missions and a bunch of new weapons. So if you wanted to get into the crossover madness but waited, now is the time to jump on it.
If you’re more in the mood for heaping helpings of horror, then you’re in luck, as Resident Evil Revelations and its sequel are both headed to the Switch next week! This return to form was great fun on the 3DS, but I can only imagine how great the horror looks on the big screen (or big portable screen). I can highly recommend Resident Evil Revelations, and I’ve heard Revelations 2 is also a blast. Both will be available for the Switch digitally on November 28th.
In case you missed it, there’s a new Ace Attorney game out this week, but it doesn’t feature Phoenix Wright. Now none other than Apollo Justice gets his first standalone title in Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney! If you’re a fan of Capcom’s crazy courtroom drama, you can’t go wrong with this new game. Lastly, if you are a fan of the classic Worms series, you can now pick up Worms W.M.D. starting today. Not a bad start to the Download, but there’s more fun stuff below!
It’s been too long without a sale mentioned here (not my fault, honest), so today we’re gonna cover the Cyber Deals. Lasting from today until December 11th, it offers up to 75% off a host of 20+ titles. Rather than cover them all, I will just mention the ones I think worth your hard earned cash. Bravely Default is discounted to $27.99 on the 3DS; the fantastic Axiom Verge is discounted to $9.99 on Wii U; I am Setsuna gets a nice discount to $23.99 on Switch; Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is discounted on both 3DS and Wii U to $19.99; Rhythm Heaven Megamix is a mere $14.99 on 3DS; Theatrhythm: Curtain Call is only $19.99 on 3DS; Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice is only $14.99 and Dual Destinies is only $9.99 on 3DS; the hardcore but fun Hive Jump is only $9.99 on Wii U; Steamworld Dig is less than $5 on Wii U and 3DS; Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition is half off at $7.49 on Wii U; Runner2 is only $3.74 on Wii U; SMT IV: Apocalypse is a bargain at $29.99 for 3DS; Zelda Oracle of Ages and Seasons are both only $2.99 on 3DS; Runbow is inexpensive at $7.49 on 3DS; Blaster Master Zero is only $6.99 on 3DS; Mutant Mudds Super Challenge is $4.99 on Wii U; Gunman Clive HD Collection is less than a dollar on Wii U; and last but not least, the underappreciated classic Demon’s Crest is just $3.99 on 3DS. That’s a ton of great games on sale, but you can also find the full list here!
The latest Pokémon is out, and Nintendo is celebrating with Themes and wallpapers from Ultra Sun and Moon. You can also get a 30% discount off Pokémon Art Academy for your 3DS (assuming you’re feeling artsy). Also on the topic of discounts, My Nintendo is offering a 20% off discount for Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World on 3DS! Because nothing says Thanksgiving like a Yoshi gobbling up everything in sight.
Lastly, we’ll close it out with our usual newly released digital games. There’s a bunch of them, including a couple intriguing looking SHMUPs, but first let’s talk a couple demos. If you want a hardcore platformer, you can demo Slime-san, but if you want something more RPG styled, Nine Parchments looks like fun. However, there’s a lot more full games available, starting with the insanely titled Uurnog Uurnlimited. This 2D puzzle platformer looks like a mix of Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, Rayman and Lost Vikings, which could be amazing. If you like Scrabble but want more excitement, try out Letter Quest Remastered (I rather enjoyed it on my Vita). If nothing would please you more than mowing down hordes of monsters, Crimsonland is the game for you. For classic platforming, check out Kid Tripp. Or for real classics, try out ACA NEOGEO’s Soccer Brawl or Bomberman Panic Bomber (remember when Bomberman wasn’t horrible? Memories…). Finally, there are two SHMUPs that have me excited. First, Aces of the Luftwaffe – Squadron looks like a standard, albeit enjoyable, little romp. More intriguing is Transcripted, a mix of SHMUP and match 3. I think I’ll have to pick that up for the novelty alone.
I guess I should have expected a hefty Nintendo Download today, but I was still a bit surprised. There’s tons of interesting games to check out, so find some time to buy a few bargains after you gorge yourselves. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have potato boats to make! Happy Thanksgiving from oprainfall!
