While the PS Vita didn’t get a lot of love this E3, it looks like Falcom is channeling the PSP with the rerelease of Gurumin: A Montrous Adventure on the 3DS. This action-rpg originally came out for the PlayStation Portable in 2006 and then for Steam last year. Developer Falcom and publisher Mastiff obviously have a lot of faith in the game to give it a third whirl for a second handheld.
Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure centers around Purin, who has gone to visit her grandfather’s small town. Within the local mine she finds a village full of friendly monsters who are at war with the evil Phantoms. With a drill in hand, the young girl must save her new friends and fend off anyone that gets in her way. The game features colorful combat, tricky platforming, multiple endings, and graphics and voice acting that feel like they’re from the mid 2000s (but in a charming way).
A fixed release date isn’t available quite yet but Gurumin will be coming this summer. And like many of these niche releases, the game will only be available through the 3DS eshop. Will you be reliving the PSP’s glory days when these monsters come knocking?
