Nintendo has revealed a few new details on the upcoming Nintendo World Championships 2015, which will make its return this Sunday. It was previously revealed that the original Legend of Zelda would be one of the eight games contestants would be playing, but the actual challenge has been revealed. Players will have to speedrun from the beginning of the game to the end of the first dungeon, with the first player able to hold triforce above their head being crown the winner. It’s neat little challenge and it will be interesting to see how players attempt to claim victory.
Beyond unveiling a new challenge, Nintendo also announced some special guests attending the new Nintendo World Championships. Original NWC winners Jeff Hansen and Thor Aackerlund will be the guests of honor as a new champion is crowned 25 years after the original tournament. It’s really cool to see Nintendo both honoring past winners and looking ahead to crown a new champion on the eve of E3 2015.
The Nintendo World Championships 2015 will be livestreamed on June 14, at 3:00 p.m. PT/6:00 p.m. ET.
