No, you’re not dreaming. Today during the Nintendo Direct they finally announced that SMT x Fire Emblem, the much anticipated crossover announced a while back, is still in the works. Better yet, it’s slated to release in 2016 for the Wii U! Those lamenting the lack of fun titles coming out at a rapid clip for the system can rest easy. The trailer didn’t show many specifics, but they did illustrate walking around cities, massive tag team battles, and what appears to be a rocket horse. What I did not see was any grid based combat as seen in Fire Emblem, but it’s to be expected that a crossover game focuses more on one title than the other, as was the case in Professor Layton versus Ace Attorney. Regardless, it is a joy to hear this game wasn’t just forgotten by Nintendo, and I highly anticipate playing this crossover when it finally launches. Until then, enjoy this delightful little trailer!
