The latest Nintendo Direct unveiled a new weapon for Link in Hyrule Warriors. The Spinner was an item originally from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Although it can be used offensively, its primary role was more traversal in nature than anything else. That brings up the question of how exactly will it be used as a weapon. As it turns out, we didn’t have to wait too long to find out.
Continuing their trend of turning innocuous Legend of Zelda items into terrifying weapons, the Spinner looks to be an efficient weapon for dealing with hordes of enemies very quickly. The basic attacks alone cover all around him. Add in the wide area of effect the heavier attacks afford and the ability to create copies of the Spinner onto the field, Link will be untouchable from the mass of enemies converging on him. That usually means the weapon will be somewhat less efficient against tougher enemies, but it’s not always the case.
The Spinner can only be unlocked by pairing the Link amiibo figurine to Hyrule Warriors. It will be available on November 21st of this month along with several others. Hyrule Warriors will need a patch to support amiibos. That patch will be released sometime this month.
