Square Enix is continuing its parade of mobile Dragon Quest titles with the release of Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line for iOS and Android devices.
In Dragon Quest II, three descendants of the first game’s hero must join together to stop the evil wizard Hargon. This mobile port features an intuitive control system that works well with the vertical layout of mobile devices. The player is able to relocate the movement button allowing for either one-handed or two-handed play. The game will be complete when downloaded, meaning there will be no in-app purchases.
Dragon Quest II is the fourth game in the Dragon Quest series to get a mobile release in the West, alongside Dragon Quest I, IV, and VIII. This trend may not be popular among fans who already enjoy the series, but it can go a long way toward introducing new players to the series — something that will help when it comes to deciding whether to localize more games. At the very least, we now know what one of those mysterious trademarks was for.
Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line is available now for $4.99 on the iTunes Store and the Google Play Store. Check out some images below (courtesy of the Official Website) and don’t forget to leave your opinions in the comments.
