After a 26-year wait by fans of the original, a multi-million dollar campaign supported by over 60,000 people, two-and-a-half years of development, and nine months in early access, Wasteland 2, the sequel to the grandfather of post-apocalyptic RPGs, has finally been released. You can purchase the game in Classic or Deluxe versions from Steam and GOG.com, as well as purchase the Deluxe edition from the Humble Store and Glyph.
For those who didn’t play the original game, Wasteland came out in 1988 with gameplay similar to that of a tabletop RPG. It was a critical success, with at least two sequels planned. However, Electronic Arts, the publisher of Wasteland at the time, opted to go in a different direction for the planned sequels. The setting and concept would later play a role in the creation of Fallout, produced by Wasteland director Brian Fargo.
