10) Pac-Man
I do think Pac-Man makes perfect sense as a character, especially considering that Namco are helping out with the game. Despite that, I do feel there could’ve been more interesting characters from Namco to make the cut instead. Heihachi Mishima from Tekken or Reiko Nagase from Ridge Racer could’ve added a certain edge to the roster. Better yet, how about Ivy Valentine from SoulCalibur? Could you imagine Kirby’s hat of her? Maybe he’d create a second Kirby that would be conjoined to him…y’know, like how Ivy looks. *cough* Wait. Did I just contradict myself?
9) Lucina
Lucina was one of two characters announced earlier this week as a newcomer. Many were expecting Chrom to become the next Fire Emblem representative, but it appears that Sakurai wanted a little diversity and opted for the female sword user instead. I’m always open to having more Fire Emblem characters join Super Smash Bros., but Lucina does appear to be pretty much a carbon copy of Marth. Hopefully, she’ll play differently enough from the famous prince and have her own play style.
8) Palutena
A fairly obvious edition to the roster. Palutena is to Pit as Zelda is to Link, so when Pit joined Brawl, it was only a matter of time before the goddess followed. Trouble is I don’t really know too much about her. Judging by her reveal trailer, she has a wealth of special moves to utilise that cover all manner of offence and defence manoeuvres. Will she be too overpowered? And what possessed her to go for the green hair dye? I’m sure these questions will be answered soon.
7) Rosalina and Luma
Rosalina and Luma—or Rosaluma, as I like to call them—certainly have some nerve. They only made their debut in Super Mario Galaxy, and now they’ve landed a spot on the Smash Bros. roster. Daisy and Waluigi must be fuming. They definitely are the most unique of the newcomers, though. It’ll be interesting to see how they control when I get my filthy mitts on the game. How long must we wait!?
Well, at least you won’t have to wait for numbers six to three →
