It looks like the remake of Dragon Quest Monsters 2 finally has a release date. Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru to Ruka no Fushigi na Fushigi Kagi (Iru and Ruka’s Wonderful Mysterious Keys in English) will be released in Japan on February 6 for the Nintendo 3DS. Retail price for the game is 5,490 yen (approx. $55 USD).
But that’s not all that was announced. On the same day, a special edition 3DS XL bundle will be released. The bundle includes a special 3DS XL system that features gray monsters from the DQM series (and a few obligatory blue slimes) on a white background, as well as a copy of the game. The bundle will retail for 24,390 yen (approx. $247 USD).
There will also be a set of pre-order bonus items, such as slimes and weapons (presumably both DLC) which differ depending on which retailer you purchase the game from. HMV Lawson customers will receive a Berry Slime and Proficiency Sword. Tsutaya customers will get a Lime Slime and Passion Whip. If you buy from Aeon you will get a Peach Slime and Magic Wand, and buying from the Square Enix eStore will get you a Lemon Slime and Thieving Axe.
Finally, Square Enix will be releasing a special charm commemorating the 15th anniversary of the Dragon Quest Monsters series. This charm will be included as a special bundle with the game that will be available on the Square Enix eStore. The price for this bundle is 6,990 yen (approx. $70 USD).
Like other recent Dragon Quest releases, there is still no word on a localization. But many of us here at oprainfall are anticipating the day a new Dragon Quest title gets announced for the West. It seems even Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime is looking forward to it too. Are you looking forward to one, and what do you think of all this cool stuff that got announced? Let us know in the comments.
