During the Nintendo Direct 9.9.2026 presentation, new information was released for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. On top of having improved resolution and framerate, the Switch 2 Edition has a new mode called Heroes’ Vault. In this mode, you battle hordes of enemies until you take on a massive foe at the end. As you defeat enemies, a gauge in the upper right corner of the screen fills up. Once the gauge is filled, you can gain buffs and recruit more allies to combat the waves of enemies.
In addition to the new mode, a new Hero will also be available to recruit. The new Hero’s name is Shimmer, and she’s an Attacker with powerful combos and the Foresight ability which allows her to see the future. She is voiced by Shino Shimoji in Japanese.
