Armiger Entertainment announced that the Tenchi Galaxy anime pilot Kickstarter has hit its initial funding goal of $400,000 in less than 48 hours. The anime is a new entry in the Tenchi Muyo! franchise and spiritual sequel to the Tenchi Universe anime. The English cast for the new anime has many returning voices as well as newcomers to the series voice cast, Cristina Vee (Ayeka) and Hololive English Advent’s Nerissa Ravencroft (Risa, The Space Pirate).

Though the initial goal has been met, there are still three announced stretch goals the campaign is hoping to hit before the Kickstarter’s conclusion, the first being a Japanese voice track. If the $450,000 stretch goal is reached, the company will try to get as much of the original Japanese voice cast as possible to reprise their roles in the new anime, as well as new talent for the new characters. The other two stretch goals are a 4K upgrade ($475,000) and a making-of documentary ($500,000). Armiger noted the possibly of additional stretch goals if the already announced ones are met before campaign conclusion.

The new anime is described as follows:

TENCHI GALAXY follows the Tenchi gang as they travel to the planet of the space pirates, MIKUNI, in search of an artifact that was stolen from Jurai. In order to get it back, they must face NIIMI, the queen of the space pirates. What dangers await them? What connection does Niimi have to Ryoko? And whose side is Nagi on?
