I got behind writing up these columns between my traveling and my getting ill after going to Canada in single-digit and negative-degree weather. It feels a little silly to say “[w]hen am I going to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons today?” on a daily basis, but I somehow make it work.

I need to spend more time on the DLC and explore more of the 3.0 content, but I have been definitely putting it off. There is a lot I need to do over the next few months, too, but I will still make time for this game every day as long as I possibly can.

If you missed last week’s Tom Nooks Snapshots, you can check it out here.

Talking with Hugh in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

I started out today by buying a fence from Nook’s Cranny. I need to start buying decorations so I can do up my whole island when I figure out what I want to do with the random open spaces there. Or, at least, to carve off more space the flowers can’t get into. I found my daily money rock, shot down a balloon that had a bunk bed in it, and I also went fishing (and did not catch anything new).

Afterwards, I had a heart-to-heart with Hazel. I feel like I am a little much sometimes too. Who knew that Animal Crossing: New Horizons can get you so emotionally correct sometimes? Afterwards, Goose came by and complimented my home. Finally, Hugo chatted me up and asked me about him leaving my island. I asked him to stay. I think it is because I don’t seek everyone out every day to talk to that they think I don’t want them around, when that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Talking with Gulliver on the island after he washed up.

Today, I opened a bottle on the beach and found a DIY recipe for a dark bamboo bath mat! I also found Gulliver washed up on the shore next to said bottle. Once again, he needed my help with finding five communicator parts to get him rescued. I agreed to help him, but…I didn’t have a desire to rush around to do it.

I found my daily money rock, sold off a bunch of stuff to Nook’s Cranny, and then caught a dung beetle. It was only after I did all that that I decided to help Gulliver out. And I did. He was thankful and told me that he would send something my way in the mail the next day. I am a little surprised since I am sure he saw that I wasn’t in a hurry to get him help.

Tutu describing her Animal Crossing: New Horizons Saturday night plans.

Even though it is Saturday night, I first decided to go through my mail in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I have a lot of mail, I am nearly capped out at 300 letters, and I needed to toss a few. I winnowed it down some but probably not enough for the long-term.

After chatting up my fellow islanders who showed up for the concert tonight, I listened to K.K. Slider sing Marine Song 2001. I think I’ve heard that one quite a few times by now, but I always enjoy listening to an old favorite again whenever I get a chance. After I got the bootleg from K.K. Slider, I turned around and gave a different bootleg, Stale Cupcakes, to Hazel as a gift. She in turn gave me a do-rag! I don’t know why anyone cannot just accept a gift without expecting to give me something in return.

Finally, I visited Nook Shopping and I ordered Space K.K. I am probably going to give that one away to another islander once I get it in the mail.

Wishing on shooting stars in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

There are shooting stars everywhere in Renassia tonight! Just no Celeste wondering around.

As I walked around, getting smack-talked by Snooty and then finding my daily money rock, I kept making wishes on the multitude of shooting stars that crossed the nighttime sky. I ended up trying to make as many wishes as possible, and I finally just parked myself at the extreme north of my island so I could try to catch as many falling stars as I could. I will need to make sure that I check out all of the beaches tomorrow to collect all the star fragments laying around.

Collecting star fragments on the beach with Gullivarrr behind me.

Nook’s Cranny is selling a street organ. A STREET ORGAN. I think it would fit in perfectly with my outdoor gym, and I immediately bought it. After selling a bunch of stuff to Timmy that I’ve been hoarding around (I somehow seem to accumulate a lot of junk just living my day-to-day life here), I went star fragment hunting.

While picking up a lot of star fragments, I found a bottle with a DIY for a bamboo candleholder recipe. I could have sworn bamboo is flammable, and so I am leery about the idea of having an open flame anywhere near it. I also picked up quite a few Aquarius fragments! It surprised me that I was able to earn so many of them. I found a few large fragments too, and I shot down a balloon for 5,000 Bells.

However, what got me the most…was the fact that Gullivarrr had washed up. I ended up helping him with finding his communicator in the deep water, but I first found a scallop that I turned over to Pascal. Pascal loves scallops, and I am always happy to help him out since he is so chill.

Finally, I caught a wharf roach on the shoreline! I donated it to the museum, and Blathers told me all about how they are omnivores, and that means they will eat everything. Overall, a great day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Convincing Goose to stay on my island.

Nook’s Cranny sold both a paper lantern and an amp today, and I had to buy both. I kept the paper lantern and immediately gave the amp to Tutu – and she loved it! She gave me a soft-serve hat in return. I also opened up a bottle and found myself a mermaid vanity DIY inside. I don’t know what makes a vanity a ‘mermaid’, but I’ll take the recipe!

Afterwards, I ran into Goose, who talked about leaving my island, but I convinced him to stay. Afterwards, I stopped by Brewster’s Cafe, and I got a cup of coffee from him. It was hot, it almost burned my tongue, but it was exactly how I liked it.

Buying an outfit from Able Sisters.

New column, new year.

I decided to mix up my outfit a day early after I got that ridiculous soft-serve hat from Tutu yesterday. I went with a heavy green and purple-themed outfit, and I am quite pleased with it!

I found a lost item that I ultimately returned to Camofrog. He was super thrilled to see it, and he gave me cycling cap in return. I am not sure when I am going to wear it, but I didn’t know yesterday that I would be changing up my hat for a soft-serve ice cream designed one.

I finally went on a spending spree at Able Sisters! I haven’t shopped there as much as I would like, but I found a lot of winter stuff that I liked on display to buy, and I snapped up almost all of it from the mannequin. I know I am only going to be wearing my winter gear for a few months more in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but I want to wear as much varied stuff as I can during that time!

What is the most star fragments you’ve collected at once before in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

Have you resisted the full allure of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 update?
