This week in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is really just defined by guest characters. It felt like there was always someone visiting me, sometime, this week in-game.

It is also nice to discover the Halloween-themed merchandise isn’t just gatekept behind an event on October 31st. I am definitely digging the spooky vibes, even if I haven’t run into Wisp yet again.

This column is going out a bit later than I wanted, but that’s life for you. Next week’s column will definitely go out on time. Ish.

If you missed last week’s Tom Nook’s Snapshot, you can check it out here.

Finding Celeste in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Today, I ran into Celeste late at night in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. She explained to me how she has an astronomical project recipe written down, and she shared it with me for a Libra scale. I unfortunately need two Libra fragments to make it, and I don’t have any.

Other than that, I found myself my daily money rock and checked on Nook Shopping to keep my streak running for the daily Nook Miles. I have so many of them that I honestly don’t know what to do with it all now…

Pushing a castle wall into the water in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Flick came to visit my island today! I ran around catching insects for him, and I ended up giving him three bell crickets so I could commission some art from him. I was surprised I was able to find three of them to give him, as I usually just sell them off to either Flick or to Timmy/Tommy as soon as I can find them. He also got really weird during it and said that “AND SO OUR CONTRACT IS BOUND, HUMAN.” I’m not sure how I feel about that, but I unfortunately cannot talk to Isabelle to try to sort out the creepiness here.

At Nook’s Shopping today, there was a castle wall I ended up purchasing. I thought it would be kind of cool to have a semi-submerged castle off of my island’s shores, and so I pushed it off into the water as much as I could.

Finally, I chatted up my islanders! Hugo was kind of weird, as he was insisting that I invite him over to my home. I tend…to have to be in a particular mood to have someone over, as I generally am only in my home when I am actively decorating it. I politely, but firmly, turned him down over it.

Opening a letter in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

I spent far too much time in Animal Crossing: New Horizons today sorting through my mail. I hate dealing with my mail, but I need to keep doing it so I don’t hit the arbitrary 300 mail limit. I pulled a bunch of things I had ordered through Nook Shopping (mostly K.K. Slider songs), the bell cricket statue, and more out of it. I also found and opened a letter in a bottle that gave me the recipe for a log bed!

Finally, I stopped by Kicks to see what he had for sale. It is a little odd for me to have visitors three days in a row, but I don’t hate it. I ended up buying a pair of shoes and some wings for me to wear in the coming weeks for Halloween.

Digging in a water fall in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

I missed the Fall Fishing Tournament…which means I have missed more fishing and bug catching events this year than I’ve participated in. I was so wrapped up in real-life that I couldn’t make it in time.

I ended up instead fooling around with building water features on my island. I had this idea to make a waterfall that led into a pool and install an arch over it…But I ended up not really being able to pull it off with any real flair. I wish I could just elevate a small section, and ONLY that small section to help build a waterfall. Instead, I made a small waterfall with a small pool that I ended up just paving over when all was said and done.

I wish the landscaping features in Animal Crossing: New Horizons was more robust so I could make my island into how see it in my head sometimes!

Buying lilies in Nook's Cranny.

Due to the fishing tournament yesterday, K.K. Slider came to town today to put on his one-night only weekly concert. I asked him to pick a song for me tonight, and he selected K.K. Groove to showcase for me, Tutu, and Cephalobot. I really liked the music, even though I wouldn’t play it in my home.

I also stopped by Nook’s Cranny and I picked up a spooky chair (a pumpkin seat!) and a Casablanca lilies. While my favorite flower is definitely the Strelitzia, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to buy a vase of flowers for my home.

Celebrating Gonzo's birthday with him.

Today was one of those days in Animal Crossing: New Horizons where everything was unexpectedly busy.

When I left my home and checked my mail today, I saw that Goose had sent me a letter thanking me for his birthday gift. It made me happy to see it, and he included a gift in return with his note. As I went to Nook’s Cranny, I bought a small Trick o’ Treat bucket in the shape of a jack o’ lantern to haul around everywhere with me. After that, I visited the campsite.

It was there that I met Del, who is a robot gator (kinda like Cephalobot is a robot octopus?), who’s catch phrase was ‘gronk’. He didn’t immediately start trying to gamble with me- which was nice!- but I just wasn’t feeling it with him, especially after he told me he had a dream last night where he had moved to this island and was hanging out with me “just like this”. He then called my island weird. Nope, no clairvoyants here please! Especially clairvoyants who call my home weird. As I was running off to visit Gonzo for his birthday, I ran into Flick! Why Flick was here unannounced for the second time this week, I have no idea. But it was nice to see him!

Finally, I made it to Gonzo’s birthday. Cephalobot was wearing a top hat and tails to help celebrate! Gonzo talked about how I made him feel appreciated, and I gave him a gift. Cephalobot unexpectedly also talked about how good cake, good friends, and a thoughtful (yet expensive) gift was an experience that could not be beat.

It was one of those pretty much perfect days in game that really showcases the island and what all there is to do on it!

Burying starters in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

I’ve been hauling around orange-tea-olive starters for a while now in my inventory, and I finally decided that it was time to start planting them. I dug up some flowers alongside my town hall plaza, and I buried them in a row at the edge just above the wound hose.

That was…honestly it for the day, other than visiting the upper story of my home to finally set down the Casablanca lilies I picked up earlier this Animal Crossing: New Horizons column week. After everything that just happened yesterday, I was okay with having a lighter, easier day to close out this week’s Tom Nook’s Snapshots!
