Hauling my Nintendo Switch 2 down to Los Angeles not just for 2025 Pokémon World Championships so I could potentially do random battles in Pokémon Violet but also because I needed to make sure that I could keep playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons every day was quite the experience. Playing this game super late at night in Union Station in Los Angeles before I head back home is definitely one of the most unique experiences that I’ve had with this column so far.

If you get an opportunity to visit Pokémon World Championships next year in San Francisco, you should definitely go. It is quite a unique, and fun experience that is suitable for anyone who loves Pokémon.

If you missed last week’s Tom Nook’s Snapshots, then you can check it out here.

Tybalt comes to visit in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Aside from the usual money rock and fossil hunting, I spent way too much with Tybalt coming over to my home to hang out with me!

It is always interesting to see my fellow islanders come over to hang out, since they all have different thoughts and opinions on the things I have in my home. When Tybalt saw my Animal Crossing: New Horizons Nintendo Switch console, he IMMEDIATELY went to talking about how he could design a workout or a sport – such as hybrid skateboarding – around the console. It’s such a uniquely ‘Tybalt’ comment that I wouldn’t expect it from anyone else!

Catching a moon jellyfish in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Gullivarrr washed up on my shores once more today. I am still not quite sure how I feel about him other than I never see him and Gulliver at the same time. It is very suspicious, honestly.

He asked me to go diving in the waters around my island to try to find his communicator again, and I agreed to do so after he called me ‘Cortez’ and talked about me having three swords and a hook! That also didn’t help to alleviate my suspicions AT ALL. I ultimately found the communicator and returned it to him, but not before I found myself some moon jellyfish. In what is a fun twist of fate, my deep diving suit matched my rain hat. It was not planned at all, but I was very happy to see that in my photos for today.

Buying art from Redd in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Today, I was heading down to 2025 Pokémon World Championships in Anaheim, California. Because I needed to conserve as much battery as possible to possibly play Pokémon Violet in-person, I only played Animal Crossing: New Horizons for a short while on the Amtrak.

It turned out that I didn’t need a whole lot of time, because Redd came to the island with all his fake art in tow, including for a replica of David!

I am being a bit cheeky here, but not by much. Almost everything he brought with him was fake. Everything, that is, except for the Glowing Painting.

K.K. Slider playing on a Saturday night.

Even though I was coming back from my whirlwind trip, I still found time to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons in Union Station in Los Angeles. I also apparently decided to not change out of my wet suit for the remainder of this week, but that wasn’t so much of a conscious decision as a “well, I like how it looks!” decision.

Tonight, as always, I visited K.K. Slider to see what he had in mind to play for us. Fortunately, I was once again not disappointed. I’ve never heard of Steep Hill before, but it definitely was fitting for a long, dreary evening in a loud albeit empty station.

Fireworks with boba tea and Goose.

I visited the fireworks again tonight, and Hugh told me about his dreams. He said that we talk every night and that sometimes I have two heads, but since I have only one head right now, this has to be real. He blames it on his jar of coleslaw that he keeps in a warm, damp place that may have finally went bad, but I don’t know. The whole encounter was just a bit weird.

Other than that, I drew number 22 from Redd’s stall, and I won myself some boba strawberry tea! I then went back to double down my luck, and I drew the number 24…which meant I won boba green tea! For 500 Bells each, I’m not sure if I am getting the best deal possible, but I’m not too upset.

I then spent the rest of the evening hanging out on a bench with Goose while drinking boba and watching the fireworks.

Being stung by a scorpion.

Today, I farmed up produce from my crops that are scatted around the southern half of Renassia, and I kept making wishes on stars. It sounds a bit silly, I know, but I like collecting the star fragments and hearing Celeste tell me a story whenever I see her again. I also shook a money tree before chopping it up and digging up the stump.

I also ran into a scorpion, who knocked me out with a sting! I was trying to catch it, but it got to me first. I also learned a DIY recipe for a leaf mask and a tree-branch wand!

Finally, Gulliver washed up again today. While he is clearly spending way too much time with the Wind Fish and confessing to licking cookies to taste for raisins (what?), I was able to help him out and get his communicator back to working again.

It really felt like a lot happened today, even though my island is still the same as when I left it the day before.

Tybalt's birthday party.

The best way to end any week of Tom Nook’s Snapshots is with a birthday party, and today was Tybalt’s birthday! I stopped into his home after picking up a Leo Fragment and star fragments, and I found Hazel there partying it up as well. I gave Tybalt a small gift, and he thanked me for it.

We hung out while K.K. Birthday played, and I was a little surprised that there weren’t more islander’s there for this birthday event. Tybalt has been here since pretty much the beginning of Renassia, and it just wouldn’t seem like home without him there.

How did your week in Animal Crossing: New Horizons go?

Did you celebrate any islanders’ birthdays this week?
