KOEI TECMO America and Gust have officially announced a release date for Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian. This is the new offline Atelier Resleriana game that was announced last September. The game is scheduled to launch for PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam this upcoming September 26th, 2025. In celebration of this announcement, KOEI TECMO has also put out a new first look trailer which the press release mentions will give fans a first glimpse at the game system, world and introduces new and familiar characters. The video also has commentary from the developers. You can check out that new trailer down below as well as read a bit about the game from the latest press release.

Writer’s Note:

Before you check out the brand new trailer I have something important to mention here real quick. Originally when this new Atelier Resleriana game was announced, both the trailer and the press info we were provided stated the game was coming to PS4, in addition to PS5, Switch and PC. Seeing as I personally enjoy the Atelier series myself and already own the whole Ryza trilogy, as well as Atelier Sophie 2, for PS4, I was looking forward to playing it on PS4. I currently still don’t own a PS5, and I don’t have a Switch 2 either should the game end up performing better on the new Nintendo system. I assumed it wouldn’t run nearly as well on the original Switch as it does PlayStation.

Unfortunately, in looking back at the original announcement teaser trailer from last September, I now see that it states at the very bottom of the YouTube video’s description box, the PS4 copy will only be releasing in Japan. However, I find that quite deceptive and disappointing, seeing as the actual video itself uploaded by KOEI TECMO America, clearly states PS4 and also, the original announcement email from last September, does not contain any fine print stating otherwise either. Ultimately, I felt the need to add this note here for anyone else besides myself who had thought the game would be releasing in the West for PS4 and also to set the record straight since I covered the announcement last year based on the press email. I did previously state it was headed to PS4, based on that information. It technically still is, but only in Japan.

Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian takes players on a mysterious and cozy adventure alongside new protagonists Rias Eidreise, an adventurer with a talent for alchemy, and Slade Clauslyter, a young man capable of opening entrances to dimensional paths leading to alternate dimensions. These two heroes will join forces in an attempt to discover the reason for the disappearance of the inhabitants of Hallfein, while also trying to follow in the footsteps of their loved ones and restore their hometown. During their journey, they will meet various characters who will help them, including familiar faces from the Atelier series such as Sophie Nuenmuller, Razeluxe Meitzen, Totori Helmold, and Wilbell Voll-Ersleid.

Set in the universe of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, this new Atelier title will transport players to the continent of Lantarna, where they can explore, gather ingredients for synthesis and discover every secret corner, day or night, rain or shine. Players will also have the opportunity to explore multi-level dungeons, known as “Dimensional Paths”, where the structure will change randomly with each visit, allowing players to gather different ingredients and challenge new enemies depending on the difficulty level chosen.

Fights in Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian will blend strategy with turn-based combat for strategic timeline command battles where players can form a team of six characters (three in the front line and three in the back). By using action points and equipped items to their advantage, users will be able to inflict damage and influence the timeline of characters’ turns, triggering consecutive turns for allies and activating powerful unite attacks.

Using ingredients gathered during exploration or combat, Rias will be able to synthesis various items during a process called “Gift Color Synthesis”. During this synthesis process, players will have to connect the “Gift Colors” of the ingredients together to create new items. They will also be able to assign traits or change recipes depending on the ingredients used. When certain characters come to lend Rias a hand, this will further strengthen the item created.

In addition to the traditional Atelier gameplay system alternating between exploration, combat and synthesis, users will be able to sell items via Rias’ shop while helping develop the town. By selling synthesised items, players will earn money they can invest in the development of Hallfein, thus unlocking new recipes and progressing through the main story.
