“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again.” ~ Jordan, R. (1990). The Eye of the World (1st ed.). Tor Books.

That famous opening quote came to mind this week as Renassia turned from a months-long Winter into Spring on the very last day of this column’s in-game week for Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

I wasn’t expecting it to happen, and I assumed there would be at least a few more weeks of snow covering everything on my little island before the seasons turn. I was very clearly wrong.

As I continue this year-long project, I expect there will be many more surprises to be found in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. At least, I hope there will be. But I don’t know if anything can top something as dramatic as all the snow melting overnight and leaving my island full of green grass everywhere.

If you missed last week’s installment of this Animal Crossing: New Horizons series, you can check it out here!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons | Plants in my new room.

A new room has been added to my home!

After stopping into Tom Nook’s Cranny this morning, I saw the twins were selling a Titan arum – which is a HUGE flower. I thought about it, and I decided it might be cool to have a conservatory as a side room to my home as a compliment to my front room, which is more nature themed already.

I went through my storage and found a plant I had stored away already…and I added the tarantula I caught in last week’s column to the room as well! I guess I’m going to be keeping an eye out for more plants in the future to include.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons | Hanging out at the campfire.

While Gulliver washed up on my island’s shores again today, he at least had the sense to not wash up on my doorstep two times in a row. I found the parts he needed to rebuild his communicator fairly quickly, and he promised to send me something in the mail. What it is? I have no idea.

Other than that, chopping down yet another money tree, and digging up more fossils…I ended up hanging around the fire with Tybalt and Gonzo. These small slice-of-life bits are what makes Animal Crossing: New Horizons feel like a real place you can live in.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons | Pushing the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

I spent the majority of my time playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons today redecorating my home some more and then passing out extra K.K. Slider songs to the islanders. I order them every day for delivery, and any song I already have gets passed out to my fellow Renassians!

I dug up some more fossils (that I just realized I didn’t get evaluated…oops…), and I opened more mail. Gulliver sent me a Leaning Tower of Pisa! I am thinking about making a small statue garden on a corner of my undeveloped island.

Playing tomorrow will be tricky for me. I am making a whirlwind trip down to Los Angeles for Pokemon GO Tour: Unova – Los Angeles, and I am going to try to play on the bus either there or while heading back.

K.K. Slider singing again.

I was so wrapped up going to and from Los Angeles to participate in Pokémon GO Tour: Unova – Los Angeles that I ended up pulling out my Nintendo Switch at my friend Nicole’s place so I could keep my New Year’s Resolution.

I introduced her to K.K. Slider and explained how he sings every Saturday night in the plaza. I let him pick the song he wanted to sing for us, and we caught up on our lives while K.K. Slider sung The K. Funk in the background.

It was definitely one of the most unique experiences that I’ve had in the game so far!

Late at night

By the time I got back on the overnight bus from Los Angeles, picked up my dog, cleaned, prepped for Monday, and saw a movie across town, I was exhausted. I logged on just long enough to see what there was to do in Renassia at past 10:30 PM…and unsurprisingly, there was not a lot to do.

Some of my fellow islanders were at home (presumably getting ready for bed) and all the stores were shut down. I ended up just going to bed too.

Vermeer Painting in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

I know this is supposed to be The Milkmaid by Johannes Vermeer.

What I don’t know, since I’ve never really spent time with it in real life, is how authentic this painting being sold by Redd actually is.

I think it is real? Everything SEEMS correct. But it is one of those things that I will only know if I could have seen the original painting with my own eyes. I went ahead and bought it from Redd anyway, and I am hoping it is an authentic piece of art so I can donate it to Blathers and the museum!

Spring has come to Renassia.

Spring has come to Renassia.

It was the biggest shock for me to exit my home this morning, and I honestly didn’t realize it until I was at my Town Hall and I realized the snow was gone.

I wrote my opening paragraph for this week’s column after I realized how a new season has arrived for my little island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It was that big of a shock. Yes, I bought some things from Kicks and I had some fossils evaluated by Blathers…

But all I really did today was walk all over my island and just see how it has changed for the next few months. I know I will eventually get used to it. But definitely not today.
