This was the first week this year where I traveled out of state, and I knew I needed to bring my Nintendo Switch along so I could keep playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons every day. Trying to explain to people that “I need a few minutes to check out my island!” was easier than I thought, and I would randomly pop my Switch out to get my daily time on my island in.

Playing every day is starting to really feel like a habit. I also feel like I finally completed the small bit of storyline this game offers, as I managed to finally get K.K. Slider to come to my island to perform!

I am also so, so close to paying off my current mortgage…

By the way: Does anyone have the Happy Home Paradise DLC? Is it worth getting?

If you missed last week’s entry, you can check it out here.

Snowboy giving me another Large snowflake.

Today, I spent more time picking out my new outfit for this week than anything else. Kicks was in town, too, so I was able to pick up a new set of shoes and a small bag for future outfit use! I’m also hauling around a Lost Item that I need to find the owner of…If that owner is ever awake and around when I’m playing.

While doing my little bit of daily errands, I made another perfect Snowboy! He gave me another recipe and another Large snowflake to make it with. I have yet to craft anything other than the bed, but I really should.

It’s nice playing when it’s daytime on my island. I feel like the snow and the ocean and everything else has a brighter, cheerier look to it at that time of day.

Today, I dug up, got evaluated, and then sold off three fossils! I also found yet another money rock…

…I went fishing, and I caught a carp, and I had to craft another fishing rod…

…I paid down some more of my home loan…

AND OH YEAH, K.K. SLIDER SAID HE WANTS TO DO A CONCERT ON MY ISLAND!!!

I won’t lie; I am ridiculously excited about this. I loved watching him play in prior entries of Animal Crossing, and I cannot wait to see THE K.K. Slider play on my little island here!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons | K.K. Slider Concert

I traveled out of state the night before, and I ended up checking into Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the next few days while there. As a result, there isn’t a TON of things I got done, simply because I was out and about so much in real life. It made playing this game a bit harder than expected, but I did make time for it to keep my New Year’s Resolution!

Anyway…

I checked into Renassia today, and it was the day of the K.K. Slider special concert!

I won’t lie: It was absolutely magical. I’ve played Animal Crossing since it was first released on the Nintendo GameCube, and K.K.’s concerts are always a special highlight of the game for me. It also didn’t hurt any that he gave me a copy of the song he sang to play in my own house from then on!

Hopkins comes to visit.

I don’t like Hopkins. He immediately starts talking about sweets, and he asked immediately if he can move into my island. I felt incredibly pushed by him, and his obsession with chocolate chip cookies was just…too weird.

I didn’t stay long in the game today, if only because I was busy in real life on my trip. I dug up a couple fossils that I then sold post-identification, which was cool.

All that said…I definitely stopped by K.K.’s weekly concert, and I got a new song: K.K. Etude! I am adding it to my music collection post-haste.

Making an ordinance in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

I have a major problem with weeds on my island. It comes from not playing for so long, and from leaving the northern half of my island completely undeveloped.

I was poking around at the different ordinances that I can now enact, and I gladly paid over my 20,000 Bells and enacted the Beautiful Island ordinance. This means that everyone is supposed to pitch in to remove weeds, clean up trash, and recycle!

I can really get behind that, and it helps make the island a lot more beautiful.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons | Goth clothing request.

I was back home for this, but due to everything going on, it wasn’t until past 11:30 PM when I was able to get into my island for the day.

I did a couple minor things like saying hello to my islanders…And then I saw Label in my plaza. And for some reason, she wanted me to dress in goth clothes. I don’t have goth clothes. I don’t know where I would even GET goth clothes at this time of night when all the shops are closed and no one I know who plays this game is awake for me to get clothing from. And unfortunately, my baseball uniform doesn’t count as ‘goth’.

So, I sadly couldn’t get whatever she was offering me that day.

Matching flamingos in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

It’s a small, silly, occasional thing that makes my day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Today, Nook’s Cranny was selling the Ms. Flamingo piece! I’ve had a single flamingo dotting my island since…well…forever. And so, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to match it with another flamingo! I took the time to figure out how to adjust it to match the same direction as my already existing, paler pink, flamingo.

I also harvested some crops (I am terrible at doing this on a regular basis), planted a new money tree, and threw 23,000 Bells towards my home loan! I am so, so close to paying off another mortgage that I am excited about it!

And that wraps up another week on my island.
