We here at oprainfall don’t just love video games: we’re big fans of anime, too. So in celebration of the medium, we’re here to give you our thoughts on what we’ve been watching each week as we watch it. Old, new – anything goes.

Otaku Elf
We pick up from more or less where it ended last week with Koito doing some archery practice in order to get ready for a festival. She just is not very good at it — though she is skilled at almost making impossible shots that nearly hit Elda. It is shown that Elda is actually quite good with a bow; however, her advice is not very helpful due to it being more related with her being an elf. When the ritual actually starts, Koito’s skill still isn’t close to being good enough. When even she more or less gives up, we see success due to Elda. It was a nice moment showing how the two have gotten close with Elda doing something seemingly uncharacteristic to help out. After this we get a short part about Elda and her terrible luck, which was funny. Personally, I thought it was kind of odd they ended with that instead of with the festival, but coming off the end of the last episode it wouldn’t have worked going back and forth. Overall I did like the series, and I wouldn’t mind if there was another season. – Walter

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury
There was quite a lot that happened in this one. Prospera and her faction continue with their plans and are nearly untouchable, though they do end up hitting a few delays along the way. Suletta and the others prepare for the battle with them getting their mobile suits ready. Suletta and Guel face off in one more duel, one that will be familiar to those who watched the original series. One of the big highlights was Suletta and Miorine’s reunion. It was a scene that I thought was done nicely. There was some nice tension with Suletta finally getting into the cockpit of the Calibarn with her trying to achieve a high enough permit score. The full reveal of the new Gundam as it approached Quiet Zero was probably my favorite part of the episode. I like the design of the Calibarn and I really can’t say how much I like the Gundam’s “broom.” The music for that scene was another thing that added to the moment. As the episode came to an end we see both Suletta and Guel getting ready for a rough confrontation. I’m excited to see how the next battles will go; it is a Gundam series, so there’s a very good possibility of several characters not making it to the end of the battle. – Walter
