SPY x FAMILY | Episode 6
She did the thing!

This week in SPY x FAMILY, Anya finally gets to go to school. And oh boy, it was definitely an eventful one. But before that, while Loid is away, Anya gets to have some bonding time with Yor, after almost getting kidnapped. Yor dealt with those would-be kidnappers in the best way possible, with overwhelming force, and it was oh so satisfying to watch. This leads to Yor training Anya in martial arts, and those skills reared their head pretty early in her school life. But, I’ll leave what happens to your imagination. Let’s just say, Anya is getting closer to a student alright, just not the right one. I appreciate the effort Yor is putting in to be a better mother for Anya. I loved seeing how Anya interacted during her first day at Eden College and the mischief she got into, partially due to the training and advice from Yor. Overall, another great episode in the books. – Patrick

Love After World Domination

Love After World Domination At the Beach

The episode started off with a bit of a change. I like both the opening and ending theme of the show, and I was not expecting a certain voice to be part of the opening of this episode. Culverin Bear has been getting some good parts in the last few episodes. This is a beach episode, which does get pulled off nicely, at least to me. Before the actual trip, Desumi is given good/bad news from Gekko over a type of promotion. Everyone is happy for her, including her family who we get to see for the first time. However, we can see she’s not that thrilled about it and a talk with Fudo helps with her decision. The actual beach trip is supposed to be a serious affair, but we can see that most of Gekko and even Gelato 5 are there for fun. Beast and Steel Princess appear once again, with Beast getting more of a focus. Her view of Desumi is a bit off from reality and plays a big role in the comedy with her. We also get to see some more interactions with the other members of Gelato 5, with Desumi being introduced to them. Towards the end we see that another member of Gelato 5 has noticed Desumi. This was a pretty solid episode and the next will probably show some more background for the other characters. – Walter

Ya Boy Kongming! (Paripi Kōmei)

Ya Boy Kongming! In the Studio

Kabetaijin has started doing songs with Eiko and their popularity has started to increase; however, they still are a long way from Eiko’s goal. Kongming has once again started planning and assessed the competition for getting into the musical festival. The episode has a majority of the focus on Kabetaijin and Eiko – first with him getting ready for another rap battle, then with Eiko finally getting time at a studio. It shows the two at a rough point with Kabetaijin having trouble thinking of lyrics and Eiko being informed of a weakness in her singing. We also get introduced to a new character named Nanami who also sings. Eiko ends up helping her out using one of the items Kongming gave to her earlier for if she needed help. I do like that Kabetaijin and Nanami have joined in during the end credits. I would like to see how they bring Nanami in her music later on. – Walter
