In a wave of positive girls’ love story news, among them is Highway Blossoms who are heading to consoles. Studio Élan celebrates the 5th anniversary of the release, while also dropping a news bomb. To clarify, they’re bundling both the base game plus the Next Exit DLC and calling it the Gold Rush Edition. Honestly, it’s quite fitting. Highway Blossoms was one the best English visual novel releases that this writer had the pleasure of reading. What made it so special was its charismatic presentation all while delving deep into some emotional trauma. It’s why I’ll always treasure Amber and Marina, the game’s main couple. What was Highway Blossoms about?
Highway Blossoms is a short yuri kinetic novel set in the American Southwest. After an old gold rush miner’s journal is discovered, supposedly detailing where he hid parts of his stash, a nationwide craze begins as would-be prospectors try to solve its clues and strike it rich.
Amber couldn’t care less. Wandering the desert in a recently-inherited motorhome, she mourns the loss of her grandfather – indifferent and unaware of the hunt happening around her. It’s not until she meets Marina, a young hitchhiker lost in New Mexico that the girls get swept up in the rush.
Following the remaster treatment, Highway Blossoms really demonstrates what committing to your game can do for you. In particular, not stopping at adding voice acting. They got a new DLC and even look now to expand their audience. This writer hopes for great success as these two girls changed everything for me.
