SEGA has announced Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis (PSO2: NGS), a massive update to Phantasy Star Online 2 (PSO2). PSO2: NGS takes place 1000 years after PSO2 and features a new battle system, upgraded graphics engine and an open world game system. The graphics engine of PSO2 will also be overhauled to match PSO2: NGS. Please note, PSO2‘s PC version’s system requirements will increase after the graphics engine overhaul. Character creation is more robust and due to the PSO2 graphics overhaul, characters created in PSO2: NGS and can be used in PSO2 and vice-versa. Even after PSO2: NGS is released, players will still be able to experience the original PSO2, as both games will exist side-by-side.
While some aspects can be shared between PSO2 and PSO2: NGS, such as created characters, some things can not be shared or will differ once transferred. For example, Weapons, Units and Mags can be transferred between the two games, but their abilities and appearances may differ in PSO2: NGS because of the new game system. Currencies that can affect the game’s balance, such as Meseta and FUN, cannot be transferred to PSO2: NGS.
