Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia

During the Nintendo Treehouse Live event on Friday, July 6, Nintendo showed off two upcoming titles: Paper Mario: The Origami King; and Wayforward’s new Bakugan installment. Let’s take a look what’s in store for players in Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia.

This action role-playing game expands on both the television series and toy franchise with familiar characters, monsters, and locales. The brawls are a hybrid of real-time and turn-based combat, with players running around the field collecting energy cores to power up their Bakugan. The brighter the core, the more powerful it is, so you’ll need to strategize whether you want to go for the brightest cores or collect smaller ones more quickly, as your opponent will also be collecting them at the same time. Once your monster is powered up, you can unleash a special attack, or build up your team’s power for a devastating team attack.

When not in battle, you can explore the town, talk to a variety of NPCs, and even meet characters from the TV show. The story weaves between a series of brawl tournaments and a larger investigation into mysterious earthquakes. Build up your friendships with 81 Bakugan, take on 100-plus quests, and find 200 special ability types as you explore the world. Players can also go head-to-head in online battles with others from around the world.
