Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) publishing label Unties has released Tokyo Dark -Remembrance- on PlayStation 4. The anime-style murder mystery combines the features of visual novel and adventure. The title is also available on Nintendo Switch. You can nab it for $19.99, and it includes English and German support for text. Meanwhile voice acting also supports Japanese, according to the press release.

Developers Cherrymochi and Mebius have rebuilt the title in a new engine. The dark horror scenery of a crime-riddled Tokyo was brought to life by Graphinica (who also did some work on Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and Hellsing Ultimate. This ultimate edition of Tokyo Dark also includes some new content and new endings. Here is the original trailer:

In Tokyo Dark -Remembrance-, detective Ito Ayami’s partner has disappeared. Strange symbols have popped up all over the city districts. So has a strange masked figure. Ito will need to step into the city’s dark underbelly to discover the truth behind the strange events unfolding everywhere and find her friend before time runs out. Her actions are tracked by the S.P.I.N. (Sanity, Professionalism, Investigation, Neurosis) system. This in turn effects character interactions and what story paths are open to her.

Ito could play by the rules to make sure she stays in good standing with fellow police, which may in turn open up favors to help in the investigation. On the other hand, she could also use violence to get things done, but she may turn citizens against her and close off certain future paths. G&R Representative at Unties, John Davis, commented about Tokyo Dark -Remembrance-:

“Tokyo Dark -Remembrance- emphasizes balancing opposing forces mechanically, visually and thematically. The developers have perfected the core ideas with the Switch and upcoming PlayStation 4 releases, taking Ito’s journey to even more chilling places with innovative systems tracking every in-game action.”

Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general). I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
