Shantae and the Seven Sirens | Logo

So I was already excited when WayForward announced a new half-genie adventure in Shantae 5. But now that we know a few more details about it, I’m beyond excited. For one thing, now we have an official subtitle, Shantae and the Seven Sirens. More exciting is that this adventure has more genies, or at least more half-genies. To be exact, an entire tropical island of them! But things often aren’t as they seem, and this island hides some nefarious secrets. But perhaps what has me most excited is that Shantae and the Seven Sirens seems to be a return to the Metroidvania genre. They describe the adventure as a “nonlinear, interconnected world”, and that screams Metroidvania to this genie fan.

Shantae and the Seven Sirens | Risky

If all that wasn’t enough, there’s a new way to upgrade Shantae with a collectible card system. And what’s really great is that Shantae and the Seven Sirens is coming to pretty much every console possible. It’s gracing the Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC and even Apple Arcade. While there’s no release date yet, I’m officially marking this Shantae adventure as my most anticipated title of 2020. About

Having previously announced the next game in the Shantae series back in March, independent game studio WayForward is proud to reveal the official title for the hotly anticipated action-adventure-platformer: Shantae and the Seven Sirens.

Shantae and the Seven Sirens | Pointy

Formerly referred to as Shantae 5, Shantae and the Seven Sirens sends the belly-dancing, hair-whipping, half-genie hero to a tropical island where Shantae and her friends encounter other Half-Genie allies, but they soon learn there’s trouble in paradise. As Shantae gets caught up in the island’s sinister secrets, she’ll use all-new dance abilities and instant-transformation Fusion Magic to explore the nonlinear, interconnected world where she’ll visit multiple towns, overcome treacherous labyrinths, and battle dastardly bosses. The game also features a new collectible card system that grants players the freedom to augment Shantae’s powers to suit their own style of play.

Shantae and the Seven Sirens | Transform

Releasing on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Apple Arcade, Shantae and the Seven Sirens is the fifth entry in the Shantae series, which originally debuted on Game Boy Color in 2002. Additional information about the game, including the distribution, pricing, and release date, will be announced as it becomes available.
