There has been a subtle trend of games coming to authentic realistic consoles has there? The next game in this trend is Phantom Gear by Bits Rule Games, published by Mega Cat Studios. It is an action platformer with many elements from the classics. Influenced from games such as Ristar, Dynamite Heady, and Mega Man X, it is to have animated cutscenes, multiple weapons, big boss fights and skill progression. The Kickstarter itself is to cover the cost of developing the game for the Sega Genesis, as well as manufacturing the cartridges and box.
The story is that some time ago, Dr. Valentine and Engineer Agnis uncovered an ancient artifact, a source of great energy. With this, they made new technologies to further humanity. However, a phantom of the past rose up and created the Ocular Force, a group that wants to weaponize the artifact. The group invaded the laboratory that contained the artifact, obtaining a small piece and killing Agnis. Valentine then adopted Agnis’ daughter, Josephine, replacing her lost legs with prosthetics. After some time, it is up to Josephine to save the world.
The pledge goal for the Kickstarter is $25,000. The cartridge itself is to be compatible for all regions. The Kickstarter has until August 15th to be backed. Awards includes the game as a ROM file or even a physical copy, poster, and even a comic book. Beyond the $25,000 mark, there are also goals to help broaden the game, going up to $110,000 right now. Pittsburgh, USA –July 12th, 2019– Retro independent publisher Mega Cat Studios & Bits Rule Games are releasing a Kickstarter campaign on July 16th to fund their new old-school platform game Phantom Gear for Sega Genesis .
Phantom Gear presents a mix of elements from a variety of classic action platformers games featuring skill progression, multiple weapons, massive boss fights and animated cutscenes. Lock ‘n’ load to power through levels, or use your skills and abilities to search for gears and orbs!
