IronOak Games and their publishers have launched For The King on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. It is available today at retail stores in Europe. However, it will be arriving in stores in North America in a few days on May 28th. The For The King Signature Edition is also available now in Europe. It contains the following goodies, and they are the same regardless of whether you get the Switch or PS4 version:
- The full region-free game
- A numbered certificate
- A player guide
- The original soundtrack
- A shield keyring
- An axe enamel pin
- and a Chaos enamel pin
The game is an indie RPG that combines roguelike elements with tabletop to create an adventure spanning realms. You can take on the game’s challenges on your own or team up with a friend in both local and online multiplayer modes. The gameplay mixes turn based combat and strategy with roguelike elements. Maps, events, and quests are procedurally generated so each play through will be unique. Here is the For The King announcement trailer.
Before you venture into Fahrul, be forewarned. The press release says that none who’ve gone before you and attempted this quest have ever returned. That leaves one question. Can you defy the odds and succeed where all of your predecessors have failed?
For The King is also available on Xbox One and Steam. You can also find out more at the developers’ official website. Lastly, here are a handful of screenshots that were also included in todays’ press release:
