Rune Factory fans excited for the next installment in the franchise will still have to wait a while for the Rune Factory 5.

In their latest financial results briefing Marvelous reported that the game would not be ready until at least April of 2020. Development has just gone underway and they want to make sure they give fans a well crafted and polished experience. they’re currently aiming for a release in the next fiscal year, so between April, 2020 and March, 2021. Rune Factory 5‘s official release date has previously been announced for 2020 on the Nintendo Switch.

If you’re reading this and finding yourself disappointed in the long wait maybe it’ll help to remember that the Switch will be getting a new remaster of Rune Factory 4 in Rune Factory 4 Special later this summer. And as a final note, Marvelous hasn’t forgotten about Story of Seasons and expressed interest in releasing a new game in the franchise on console some point in the near future.
