Hopoo Games has unveiled their early access roadmap for Risk of Rain 2, detailing their plans leading up to the v1.0 launch in the spring of 2020. The game is the sequel to their popular third-person, roguelike shooter. According to the roadmap, there will be five major updates coming between now and when the game leaves early access in the spring next year.
In just the next few months, players will face brand new levels to explore with new survivors, items, and formidable new bosses. “Skills 2.0” and “Artifacts 2.0” are coming with the summer and winter updates, but the final level and its boss will wait until the v1.0 update. Paul Morse, co-founder of Hopoo Games, commented about the importance of transparency with their community:
“It is really important for us to have transparency with our amazing early access community. We are sharing this forecast so players know what to look forward to and what the team is working towards in making Risk of Rain 2 the best game of its kind. That’s only possible with the input and feedback we get from our players.”
As you can see in the image above, Hopoo Games has a lot planned on their journey to version 1.0. The original Risk of Rain game sold over 3 million copies. Its sequel, Risk of Rain 2, is bringing 3D graphics and third-person shooting action to the franchise. At the same time, it is careful to maintain the classic roguelike gameplay of the original. They are working with fellow shooter fans at Gearbox Publishing to make it the best it can be.
Hopoo games co-founder, Duncan Drummond, also thanked the community for their great support so far. Risk of Rain 2 launched in Steam Early Access on March 28th, so it has been available for just about a month. Here is his message to the fans:
“Thank you all so much for the amazing support over the first month! We hope that the Roadmap meets our community’s expectations. It’s intended to be an active part of development and we’ll continue to keep our ears open to community feedback across Discord, Twitter and everywhere else. We are also really excited to support our international fans, and we hope that the localization efforts are a good start.”
