This is an interesting week for the Nintendo Download. There’s a lot more random indie games than anything else, with mixed results. Still, there’s also plenty of sales, interesting new content, My Nintendo rewards, special events, DLC and more. So let’s start with a strange new title courtesy of NIS America.
NIS America is known for an eclectic roster of games, and Penny-Punching Princess fits right in. You play a spoiled brat in a world ruled by greed in this isometric brawler, which hits April 3rd. I certainly appreciate the art style of the game, but you can find out if the game’s for you when our official review goes live in the coming weeks. Also hitting the Switch is Toki Tori. Yes, that Toki Tori, with the weird little chicken solving puzzles. While it’s already released for other Nintendo consoles, if you missed out, it’s hard not to try it for less than $5. The next two games are already out, but they have some new content incoming.
If you’re a fan of massive sprawling RPGs, then you likely already own Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but even then, you don’t necessarily have the latest DLC. With the Expansion Pass, you can unlock great new content. To find out more details, just check below.
New Quests Pack 2 – Launching at 10 p.m. PT today
- Nopon of Good Tastes (Talk to Bipopo near Galad Residential Zone in Gormott. Available after adding Poppi.)
- Cleared of All Charges (Talk to Strath in Fonsett, Leftheria. Requires Perun, Godfrey and Perceval.)
- Beneath the Aurora (Talk to Len at Rigitte Harbor in Leftheria. Available from Chapter 6.)
- Upgrades and Tinkering (Examine the table in Tora’s house. Requires Tora. Available from Chapter 8.)
- Most Awful News?! (Stay at the inn in Tantal. Requires Finch’s Birdbrain Lv.3 and Zeke. Available from Chapter 10.)
Next, if you love Fire Emblem with a dash of Musou, then you’ll love the new DLC for Fire Emblem Warriors.
Expand your Fire Emblem Warriors adventure with DLC. All three DLC Packs for the Fire Emblem Warriors game are now available! Here’s what’s in the new Fire Emblem Awakening DLC pack release: three new playable characters (Owain, Tharja and Olivia), three new History Maps, new costumes, new armor break models, new support conversations, new weapons and new weapon attributes. If you already purchased the Season Pass, this DLC Pack, as well as the Fire Emblem Fates Pack and Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon Pack, are available to you at no additional cost.

Next up, to celebrate being almost a year old, ARMS is hosting a bunch of events. If you haven’t tried out this crazy game yet, I would recommend you do so. I got into it late, and it’s still a lot of fun.

Lastly, if you enjoy using My Nintendo to redeem rewards, you’ll love this upcoming April promotion.
April My Nintendo Rewards – There’s a lot to love about the month of April, but nothing says, “I love you, sis!” or “I love you, bro!” like National Siblings Day on April 10. It’s a great day to show your brothers or sisters that you really appreciate them. You can even let them win at a video game for once! In honor of this special day, My Nintendo is offering wallpapers and an April calendar featuring the Mario Bros. You can redeem your My Nintendo reward points and plaster your PC or smart device with Mario and Luigi, the most famous siblings in the Mushroom Kingdom. My Nintendo is also offering discounts, using your My Nintendo reward points, for select games that feature Mario and Luigi.
Before we close out, let’s cover some compelling new digital fare, shall we? Only one of these games is coming out next week, and that’s Spartan, which looks like an interesting action platformer. The rest of these are either out today or tomorrow. If you love retro, there are three great options for you – ACA NEOGEO Sengoku 3, Tengai and Spellcaster’s Assistant. If you’re in a platforming mood, you can’t go wrong with Alteric, Devious Dungeon or Shadow Bug. If you want to give your 3DS a bit more love, what better way than with Witch & Hero III? For something weird, check out Zombillie. And finally, if you love alchemy, check out Atelier Lydie & Suelle! Not a bad list of games, huh? Be sure to check back with oprainfall next week for the latest Nintendo Download, chock full of great games for our discerning audience.
