BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle Blake Gordeau gameplay

At the Arc System Works Fighting Game Awards in Japan, the developer released a deluge of new information about BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, including the release date, total character count, information about the limited edition, and a new character. The game will release on May 25, 2018 in Japan and Asia, and June 5 worldwide, on PS4, Switch and Steam.

Much of the information about the game comes through a new trailer showing off the announced characters, which you can watch on YouTube courtesy of Persona Central below, or a cleaner version on Niconico:

The trailer goes through the 20 previously announced characters, before revealing that there will be 40 characters in the game in total, including DLC. It then ends by showing off the first DLC character to be revealed, RWBY’s Blake Belladonna.

There will also be an “All-in-One Pack” including all 20 characters. The release system is as follows:

Brilliant. Simply brilliant. They are openly admitting that they are selling half a game on launch and given that we’ve already seen gameplay from Blake Belladonna (5 months before release) it is likely cut content. Fighting games nowadays are cancer and there are still people supporting this business model. Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, Street Fighter V, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Injustice 2 are all guilty of these practices and yet they sell in the millions. At least SNK are still consumer friendly.

Gonna Snag SNK and Blade Strangers instead of this. This practice has to stop.

    • Mr0303

Forgot about Blade Strangers. We must support fighting games that don’t nickel and dime you. I’m definitely buying it as well.

    • Steve Baltimore

I’m going to see if I can get some more coverage on that closer to release to remind folks about it.

    • Mr0303

That’d be great. Looking forward to reading about it.

Ridiculous. Guess this translates to a 2019 release when we can get the complete version.
