IO Interactive has confirmed there will be a of release Hitman: Game of the Year Edition for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 7th. Sold at the price of $19.99, this digital only edition will include season 1 of the game as well as the Patient Zero Campaign, three new suits and weapons. The Clown Suit includes a signature weapon named ‘A New Bat’, the Raven Suit comes with a Sieger 300 Ghost rifle, and the cow-boy Suit includes a magnum pistol named The Striker. Finally, Escalation Contracts related to each new weapon/suit combination have been added. Those Escalation Contracts are supposed to be rather challenging, one of them including up to 7 different targets. In addition to the GOTY edition,Io Interactive announced that current owners of the game will get a free update which will bring graphic upgrades. Players who hunted elusive targets will unlock Commemorative Elusive Target and elusive targets should also be reactivated shortly after the release of this edition, but will still be for a limited time.
My thoughts are that Hitman was critically acclaimed but its sales suffered from the episodic release system, which was heavily criticized, the using of Denuvo anti-copy system on PC, and a lack of marketing from Square Enix. IO Interactive is now an independent developer and they retain the ownership of Hitman IP.
