While this October Nintendo Download isn’t quite as packed as last time, there’s still a lot of good stuff to check out. Firstly, My Nintendo has new activities for folks to enjoy the multicolored leaves with, plus new Themes for the 3DS. Then the Switch continues to double down on digital coverage, with shopping bags full of new games. That’s on top of the regular new games and sales, so let’s see what spooky savings are worth picking up!

Nintendo Download | Yono

It’s a bit unusual to start with a game that isn’t a AAA or Nintendo developed title, but this week we start with a curious game about an elephant. Yono and the Celestial Elephants is a delightful looking puzzle game out now for the Switch, featuring dungeons to puzzle through, bosses and more. If the gameplay fits the art style, it should be a great game to unwind with. If, however, you’re looking for something more bloody, you should give Wulverblade a look. Cut a red swathe through Brittania with a friend or solo in this 2D side scroller. Finally, if you want something truly hardcore, next week Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond The Myth releases for the 3DS. If you love old school dungeon crawling RPGs, you should give that a look on October 17th (though you can snag the 3DS Theme today!).

While I don’t normally focus overmuch on new Themes, there are a trio of fantastic ones that you can pick up starting today. First up is the colorful Mario’s Halloween Theme. If you prefer something a bit more retro, you might prefer the NES Halloween Link Theme. Or if you prefer something less Halloween themed, you can try the Animal Crossing Falling Leaves Theme. Lastly, you can check in with My Nintendo for a bunch of great rewards here. Some great games if you don’t already own them all.

Nintendo | Neon Chrome

Lastly, we’ll end the Download with the latest and greatest digital releases, many of which are for the Switch. Hell, there are more Switch games than 3DS games these days, but that’s a discussion for another time. First up, if you like twin stick shooters with style to spare, check out Neon Chrome. If you love Zelda to death, Oceanhorn – Monster of Uncharted Seas should provide a temporary diversion. If you love split second platformers, 88 Heroes – 98 Heroes Edition might prove entertaining. If you love retro, ACA NEOGEO has you covered with The King of Fighters ’95. If you don’t have enough horror on your console, give Don’t Knock Twice a look. For those who puzzle with friends, Putty Pals looks charming. If you want more vikings on your Wii U, now Volgarr the Viking hits that console. And finally, if you want some new Virtual Console titles, you might want to check out the following – Legend of Hero Tonma, Digital Champ Battle Boxing and Motoroader.
