The anime adaptation of Himōto! Umaru-chan is getting renewed for a second season this fall, as revealed by Weekly Young Jump magazine. A new trailer uploaded to the show’s official site further teased the continuing exploits of Umaru Doma.
The staff and cast that brought the first season to life will be returning. Animation duties fall to Doga Kobu under the direction of Masahiko Ohta. Script supervisor Takashi Aoshima, character designer Aya Takano and the entire voice cast will also make their return.
Series creator Sankaku Head shared an original illustration on Twitter in celebration of the new season:

In addition to the 2nd season of Himōto! Umaru-chan!, an original animated DVD will ship on April 19th in a bundle that includes the 10th volume of the manga. Like the new season, this animated DVD special is produced by the original show’s staff.
Sankaku Head’s Himōto! Umaru-chan! began life as a Weekly Young Jump manga in 2013 and was adapted for TV in July 2015, licensed in North America by Sentai Filmworks. It centers around the mild mannered Umaru Doma, who by day is a prim and proper high school student, but at home is a lazy, fanatical otaku.
Himōto! Umaru-chan! is not the only anime renewed for a second season of late. In addition to the recently jump-started second season of Attack on Titan, ice skating anime Yuri!!! on Ice is getting renewed for a new season this fall. The classic 1998 anime Cardcaptor Sakura is also getting a sequel series for 2017.
