About Emi Evans

Emi Evans is a singer, songwriter, and cellist based in Tokyo, Japan who got her start in music at an early age and made a name for herself with her music duo, freesscape, which features a blend of UK chill out, soaring melodies, and sensitive vocals. She’s been featured in numerous television dramas, film, anime, and television commercials for clients as diverse as Toyota, Panasonic, Nivea, Canon, and Suntory in Japan.

She broke into the world of videogames with vocal contributions to an Etrian Odyssey 2 arrangement album, but gained industry-wide recognition for her work on the original NieR, which featured lyrics written in a futuristic language of her own invention.

Since that time, she’s gone on to contribute to some of of the biggest franchises in videogames, from Dark Souls 2 and Ace Combat: Assault Horizon to Monster Hunter: Frontier G and Terra Battle. She’s also performed with Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu’s band, Earthbound Papas, which features more alien vocals, and she’s excited for fans to hear her latest work in the upcoming release of NieR: Automata from Square Enix.
