A feature-length TV anime special for TYPE-MOON’s Fate/Grand Order was announced during a Nico Nico Douga stream. The adaptation is set to air by the end of this year and will be produced by Lay-duce. The anime special is titled, Fate/Grand Order – First Order-. Lay-duce is known for producing anime such as Magi: Adventures of Sinbad and Classroom Crisis.
Kinoko Nasu is credited for the original story and Takashi Takeuchi is credited for the character designs.
The story starts in 2015 as the Chaldea Security Organization works to prevent the extinction of humanity. A Grand Order is issued for a “Holy Grail Expedition” in order to uncover the cause for the extinction of humanity in 2017. The expedition begins in 2004, during the Holy Grail War in Fuyuki.

Hitoshi Nanba is directing the adaptation at Lay-duce. Takurō Tsukada will act as assistant director. Ayumi Sekine pens the script for the series based off Kinoko Nasu’s original story concept. Keisuke Goto adapts Takashi Takeuchi’s character designs for the animation. Takashi Akaishizawa will work on the design works.
Takuya Ebisawa directs the art at Lay-duce and Takeshi Satou works on the art design. Satoru Takezawa works as color key artist. Shinya Matsui acts as director of photography. Gō Sadamatsu will work as an editor for the special.
Ryo Kawasaki composes the music for the adaptation. Takeshi Takadera directs the sound at Half HP Studio. Maaya Sakamoto performs the theme song titled “Color.” Maaya Sakamoto voiced Jeanne d’Arc (Ruler class servant) in the original game.
