Special Mentions For Our Audience

A Bastard’s Tale – PS4 Digital

I almost did not feature this game because it has such a minimalist look. But if you look deeper you will see that there is a lot of tight mechanics there. This seems very much to be a spiritual successor to those brutally difficult Atari games of my youth.

Aragami – PS4 Digital

There was no question about featuring this game, however. This is a very pretty looking 3D stealth action game where you star as a ninja. It looks very cool, and it also makes you question why there aren’t more games like this mixing the Kojima stealth action with ninjas.

Atari Flashback Classics: Volume 1 – PS4 Digital

I’m not sure how many of our audience members will appreciate these games, but I had to feature them. This collection features classics such as Combat, Centipede, Swordquest, Star Raiders, and more.

Atari Flashback Classics: Volume 2 – PS4 Digital

Likewise with this game as well, although it’s a little surprising that they did not just bundle them both together. This one features Asteroids, Adventure, Haunted House, Major Havoc, and more.

Mafia III – PS4 Digital, Retail (Out 10/7)

New Orleans has been explored a couple times before, but it’s not nearly as represented as locations like New York, Los Angeles, London, or Tokyo. The major release of this week bears a lot of resemblance to the Grand Theft Auto games, but the Mafia franchise has always taken itself much more seriously and has carved out it’s own niche and fan base.

Wheels of Aurelia – PS4 Digital

This is a very interesting little niche indie game. It calls itself a narrative driving game, whatever that means. But from all appearances it is almost like a visual novel in some respects, including the fact that it has 16 different endings. That will definitely add onto the replay value, as well. But one of the primary aspects that drew me to featuring this one was that it is set in Italy during the 1970s. Even if I didn’t already love the films from that area and time, that is a very novel concept for a game.
