Nier Automata title

With all the exposure FFXV is getting, it’s nice to see some news on another one of Square Enix’s promising looking RPGs, Nier Automata. In a press release given to us this morning, it was confirmed that the release of this cult hit sequel is not that far off with an early 2017 window. And a spiffy new trailer was released for E3 that you can watch above. NieR Automata tells the story of androids from the moon (the YoRHa squad) fending off an army of machine lifeforms that were sent by alien invaders too lazy to do the work themselves. You’ll play as the too cool for school 2B and use her sword and long distance support known as ‘Pod’ to save all of humanity. The entire press release can be read below.

NIER: AUTOMATA’S DYSTOPIAN FUTURE
ARRIVES EARLY 2017

New Teaser Trailer Showcases the War-Torn World of Androids 2B, 9S and A2

LOS ANGELES (June 14, 2016) – NieR: Automata™, the SQUARE ENIX® and PlatinumGames developed, action-RPG title, will be available to fans in early 2017 for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system. The highly anticipated follow up to the 2010 cult-classic NIER®, NieR: Automata tells the story of androids 2B, 9S and A2 and their battle to reclaim the mechanoid-driven dystopia overrun by powerful weapons known as “machine lifeforms.”

2B is the main playable character and is an all-purpose battle android deployed as a member of the automated infantry squad, YoRHa. She is equipped with a sword for close quarters combat and the “Pod” support system for ranged battle. Her eyes are obscured beneath her standard-issue military visor, which she rarely removes. 2B is cool, calm, and collected.
