Dragon Heroes is a fairly popular bullet hero-RPG game developed for mobile phones. However, players were met with an updated patch for the game yesterday that ended up altering the design of characters.

right- uncensored, left censored

Left uncensored, right censored

Pantigames, the Korean company that developed Dragon Heroes, says they were forced to censor those images by policies in Google’s and Apple’s market places.

Here are the changes in the update:

Isis (Character Image)
Carsiana (Character Image)
Carsiana (‘Goddess of Victory’ Costume)

Bella (Character Image)

Hina (Character Image)

The patch was uploaded on May 19th. However, players who purchased DLC costumes will be able to keep those images uncensored, even post-update.

Dragon Heroes is out now for mobile phones.

“right- uncensored, left censored”. I love when they censor stuff by removing clothes. They should do that more often 😛

    • azariosays

      Haha I agree >_<

  • Mr0303

That’s strange – I wonder if they are trying to push the DLC by doing that. It seems strange that the platform holders will allow the DLC to remain the same.

    • Tiredman

Well the article says “purchased dlc” and not dlc that is purchased, so the people who already bought the dlc aren’t going to be screwed over. I am sure it is censored now.

    • Mr0303

Yeah, you’re right. Still weird that they won’t change the already purchased DLC. Perhaps Apple may be a bit worried of legal action.

    • Tiredman

Not really weird. If they changed something that was already paid for, they would have to give people their money back. If not, they could be sued for bait and switch. And in corporate life money is more important than a bit of censorship.

Oh boy, visible cleavage and stomachs! What will we do!

  • Tristan (Chili1)

Aww. Why do google and apple have to be so lame? I’m so tired of censorship. Its unfair to developers and consumers alike and really restrictive.

  • Panpopo

Don’t have a dog in this race, but this is probably due to Korea more than the app stores. Korea is known for being very strict on anything considered lewd, to say the least.

But here’s one thing I don’t understand: how can anything that was pre-purchased still be allowable as unchanged? You would think regardless if the costumes were purchased before a specific date or not, that they would be required to be changed as well. I suppose whatever changes in the “market app policy” they are referring to is not retroactive because you would think it would still violate Google/Apple’s general terms of use. Maybe it was a one-time “get out of jail free card” designed to not upset customers that already bought it.

Oh well, I was hoping the facebook page could provide a link to this policy, but I guess it doesn’t matter – Google/Apple can do what they want since it is their store.

    • ThatPerson

Sorry for answering 5 months later, but the thing about the costumes being unchanged for those who already bought it is that in the game, the only person who can see it in full glory, is the buyer. The characters aren’t really shown anywhere else besides on victory/loss screens which is only for about 2-3 seconds and blocked by text. Point being, no need to force censor something that won’t really be seen by others for an extended period of time.

Thanks for providing more info, it is appreciated.
