Final Fantasy VIII | Quistis

Gematsu covered a tweet by a user named @kazu4281 showing a scan of a page from the most recent issue of Weekly Jump. The scanned page shows numerous characters from Final Fantasy VIII as confirmed for the upcoming game World of Final Fantasy. We already knew about Squall, but now we know that SeeD instructor Quistis Trepe will also appear. Additionally, the article confirmed that you will be able to visit a SeeD base, which is where the cast of Final Fantasy VIII operates out of for a good portion of that game. Here is an image of the scanned page from the issue of Jump:

World of Final Fantasy | Weekly Jump Scan

World of Final Fantasy is a RPG being developed by Square Enix for the Sony PlayStation 4 and Playstation Vita platforms, and takes place in a world called Grimoire where everyone and everything is rendered in a chibi style. Only the game’s protagonists, Lann and Reyne, are excepted from the SD visual aesthetic, but they can shift back and forth between chibi and more realistic proportions at will. In the game, you will explore Grimoire with Lann and Reyne, befriending monsters in order to summon them as allies in battle. The game will utilize the Active Time Battle system that has become a staple of more recent Final Fantasy games, and the world will be inhabited by all the familiar monsters and characters you know and love from this long running series.

Check out this 20 minute gameplay preview to see more of what it will look, sound and feel like (also initially covered by Gematsu:)

World of Final Fantasy is set to launch in 2016 in both Japan and in the west, as the game was shown at 2015’s E3 show to American audiences. It is being developed and published by Square Enix. No word on a specific date for any region yet, however.
