Target had its biggest online shopping day of all time this past Thanksgiving Day, and the top three selling items were the Apple iPad, Apple Watch, and Nintendo Wii U. Nintendo launched the Smash Splat Wii U bundle, which features Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Splatoon, during the start of the holiday shopping season. Despite heavy hitters like Zelda Wii U and Star Fox Zero being delayed into 2016, this bundle, featuring two of Nintendo’s most popular console games, was just what the doctor (Mario) ordered. What sweetened the deal was most likely the $250 price tag, making it one of the best deals of any game system this holiday.
It’s nice to see Nintendo’s current home console find some success in a busy holiday sales season. With Xenoblade Chronicles X set to finally arrive in North America and Europe, there’s at least one more major release to entice gamers who have held off on getting a Wii U.
