Trails of Cold Steel

The Legend of Heroes series has been one of the numerous cult JRPGs that has made it on more low-profile consoles, in this case the PSP before coming to the Vita and Steam, and recently had its second localized game — The Legend of Heroes: Trails in The Sky Second Chapter — released on both despite numerous delays.

The team isn’t taking any breaks from the series as the official XSEED Tumblr has posted its first talk about localizing The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel, first announced for localization back in June. It goes into a good amount of detail about the game, describing the military high school setting and the characters, particularly our hero and heroine Raan and Laura. Those interested in the process of localization should really take a look at this blog post to get a glimpse of how the process works.

Also notable is how different this game looks, adopting 3D models instead of Trails in The Sky’s sprites. Of course, XSEED has skipped a few games in the franchise — the Trails in the Sky games original released in Japan from 2006 to 2010 — so the big jump is to be expected. The game is coming to Vita and PS3 with a potential December release, which would mean a much shorter wait than between the last two Trails games.
